Suggest Treatment To Control High Blood Pressure And Reduce Weight

I'm a 35 year old male with some issues with high blood pressure. A year ago I was borderline pre-diabetic, but I went and lost 10 lbs and the doctor was pretty impressed with the results. However, I've gained about 8 lbs back and my blood pressure was 140/126 about a month ago when I went to the doctor. So, I've been exercising & running regularly to try and improve that, it worked in the past. Lately, I've been feeling slight pressure in the middle of my chest, which is painless and comes and goes. It doesn't effect my breathing at all. A couple of months ago, I was getting weird muscle spasms in the same area whenever I was working out. I went to the doctor, we did a stress test and he found that it was quite normal. I honestly don't remember what he called it, but said the majority of people get these 'spasms' and don't even know it. He said to decrease my caffeine intake. I still drink coffee in the morning, but don't take any other caffeine and I haven't felt those spasms ever since. Could this be worrisome? Are these symptoms of anything? I do my annual physical and blood test at the end of this month. Thanks - Rudy H.

Hello there,
Before I say my suggestions,I would like to know certain things from you.
- Were you evaluated for hypertension properly?
Because the most common things which I would ask in a" young" hypertensive are
- your thyroid function
- an ultrasonogram for abdomen for any renal problems ( renal artery stenosis)
- Echocardiogram and Chest X Ray to look for co-arctation of aorta
- blood investigations to rule out adrenal hormone problems

Where you evaluated for these things?

What is your diabetes status?

what medications are you on?

I would like to tackle your problem systematically..
would like a reply from you and we'll take it from there.

Take care
