Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My brother is 24years old, on 7th Dec 2011 he suddenly started having pain in his back, on examine doctors told that he is having slipped disc and the fluid which has come out from L3-L4 disc needs to be removed. On 30th Dec 2011 he under went surgery for prolapsed disc. After surgery doctors said he is having bilateral foot drop, he developed foot drop in his right leg 1 day before surgery (29th Dec 2011) and in left foot after surgery.
2 days back when he went to the doctor again he said that he is recovering in left foot but right foot is not showing any improvement. In left foot his level is 2-3 but right foot is in level 0. Please suggest any remedy or physical therapy or anything which should be done to recover.
After 3 years of injury and foot drop you need surgical tendon transfer for correcting foot drop. Nerve transfer may not work now and physiotherapy has very less role now. Some ayurvedic treatment can be suggested with guarded prognosis. For further details you can directly contact on my profile http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-vaibhav-gandhi/63503
Take medication and apply crepe bandage over foot and ankle or use supportive splint and give rest to foot and leg.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
