Taking Duphaston For Getting Periods. Suffering From PCOD And Trying To Conceive. When Should I Start Duphaston After Having Periods?

Hi Doctor,

I have adviced to take Duphaston 10 mg for 5 days to get my periods and to follow the same for 3 cycles to regularize the cycle. I have been suffering from PCOs for sometime. I want to become pregnant now (although i was pregnant before and lost the baby at 28 weeks due to cord accident) and the doctor has told me that even if i become pregnant while having Duphaston there won't be any miscarriage. I have completed the 5 days course. I wanted to know after i have my periods this month when should i start Duphaston again?

Hello there!
i read your query and your desire for fertility but i want to make it clear that until and unless your PCOS is treated odds for conception are low.

Duphestones are oral progesterones and they are used in luteal phase ( that is second half of the cylce) that is 14 days after first day of menstrula bleeding. And once the pregnancy confirms its use should be continued Thrice a day for first month twice for 2nd and then once daily for at least 2 - 4 months. High progesterones help pregnancy and avoid cramps and abortion risks etc.

But your problem is PCOS

SO the first step is lifestyle modifications, Diet modifications.Regular excercise, weight reduction BMI below 22.
Then the next thing is medications

-Oral contraceptive agents (eg, ethinyl estradiol, medroxyprogesterone)
Antiandrogens (eg, spironolactone, leuprolide, finasteride)

-Hypoglycemic agents (eg, metformin, insulin)

-Selective estrogen receptor modulators (eg, clomiphene citrate)

-Topical hair-removal agents (eg, eflornithine)

-Topical acne agents (eg, benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin topical cream (0.02–0.1%)/gel (0.01–0.1%)/solution (0.05%), adapalene topical cream (0.1%)/gel (0.1%, 0.3%)/solution (0.1%), erythromycin topical 2%, clindamycin topical 1%, sodium sulfacetamide topical 10%)

But you know what the best option be?
See the nearby fertility consultant and let him guide you and help you in getting conceived.

Good luck with your pregnancy. Get pregnant soon :)

Cheers
