Taking Ativan And Klonopin. Suffered Brain Injury. On Feeding Tube. History Of Asthma And Drug Abuse. Need Advice
Is there any problems associated with being given Ativan .05 every 12 hours and Klonopin 0.25 every 12 hours. My 20 year old son suffered an anoxic brain injury on Aug. 12, 2012. He is on a feeding tube and in a long term care facility. He opens his eyes, responds to commands by squeezing our hands and is breathing without a ventilator thduring the day. I do not like all the meds they have him on. He does not have seizures but does have a history of breathing problems, such as asthma and he has a history of drug use. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, Thank you for posting your query. Both ativan and klonopin are benzodiazepines, and are used for sleeping effect, sedation, calming and for treating anxiety. Please discuss the indication of these medications in your son, with his treating doctors. Please get back if you require any additional information.
Best wishes,
