Tested Negative For HIV, But Numbers Getting Higher. Any Concerns ?
Hello doctor. My name is AAAA. I'm undergoing surgery on wednesday and today I had my blood taken. I was tested for HIV and the results came back negative. Here's the thing though: I get tested every 6 months and last time the result was 0.17. Today it was 0.60 Still negative, but I'd like to understand how this exactly works and if I should be concerned about the numbers getting higher? I mean, from 0.17 to 0.60 ? Thank you.
Hello Thanks for writing to us. As long as the titre is below the critical level, you ARE HIV negative. DO not worry about the numbers, as their being low a certain critical level. Different labs come up with different values and titres, so the figures might vary a bit, but do not panic. The result is still negative. The test kits come up with various dilutions of the reagents or substances used in testing. All the best.
