Tingling, Numb Fingers And Left Hand, Does 2-3 Olymbic Triathlons Each Year. Reason?
Within the last week my left hand and fingers are tingling and numb, similar to feelimng you get when your arm falls asleep. The sensation is getting moe pronounced and continuos. I have had any recent injuries to trigger it. I'm a 58 yr old male, 188 lbs, 5' 11" and in pretty good shape (I do 2-3 Olymbic triathlons aeach year). Any idea on cause of thios tingling and numbness?
Tingling and numbness in the hand and fingers suggest a neurological disturbance in the nerves supplying that area.
It may be a manifestation of Carpal tunnel syndrome, if only your symptoms are affecting hand & fingers. If you have a shooting pain along the entire length of arm, forearm and hand along with tingling, then it could be due to cervical disc disease.
A direct clinical examination, MRI scan of the cervical spine along with Nerve conduction studies will establish the diagnosis of your condition.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
