Treatment For Itchy And Painful Lump After Shin Injury?
Hi, I injured my left shin whilst doing a workout (kickboxing). I had an instantaneous large bruise and severe pain. The leg then went numb within days and a put ice on it as often as possible. It has now been two months since the injury and the bruising and lump are still there. The lump is now very itchy but also feels a bit numb. Do you think I need to see a Dr?
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Yes, I think you should see your family physician/General surgeon. Possibly the collection of blood in and around the tissues of the shin did not get absorbed as it was a significant one. This may increase or give rise to infection when you are scratching it. Therefore, your doctor may advise you to get it aspirated and then apply a pressure bandage over it to avoid its recurrence. In rare instances, some kind of surgical intervention might be required.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
