Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

It is unfortunate that your father suffered spinal cord injury, resulting into paraplegia (paralysis of both legs). This happened because of bone fracture of spine due to the fall.

In your father's case, possibly, there was delay between the fall and surgery. If surgery is done early, we can expect some recovery of functions.

At this stage, any recovery would be slow and incomplete. Please continue with the physiotherapy.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
