Hello Doctor, I'm a 26 yrs old girl and I has missed my period for 2 months (I'm not pregnant) , had a thyroid test and results were TSH 6.55 uU/ml, T3 0.75 ng/ml and T4 5.63 ug/dl. She has prescribed Thyronorm 25mcg for a month and asked me to go for the same test. What I would like to know is that, even though TSH was above the reference range, both T3 and T4 were withen the reference range. So, am I considered hypothyroid still?
After going through your question, I can understand your concern.
There is Subclinical hypothyroidism in your case. (Normal T3,T4 but elevated TSH)
Subclinical hypothyroidism usually treated with thyroid supplement when there is - - There are symptoms of hypothyroidism (Weight gain despite of decreased apatite, constipation, menstrual irregularities, infertility) - Goiter : Thyroid gland enlargement. - Infertility. - Pregnancy.
Depending upon T4 & TSH level and symptoms, dose of Thyroid supplement (Thyronorm) need to be adjusted.
Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
