What Are The Tiny Dots On The Chest And Abdomen Almost Like Heat Rashes?
Hi Doctor,
My 12 month old baby boy has tiny little red dots on his chest and abdomen, slightly on his back. Almost like a heat rash but more? He is currently being treated for tonsillitis and is finishing his course of antibiotics tomorrow. There was a very high fever just before we took him to our pediatrician, but has a normal temperature again. Should I be worried?

Hi Ancois,
The tiny little red dots on your child's chest and abdomen could be related to:
- heat rash (most probably due to high fever he got and sweating following)
- allergic reaction to the detergents if you change the laundry detergent and/or softener
I suggest to :
- not to wear too much clothes
- keep him not too warm/hot
- if you use to wipe him, avoid using wipes
- give him lots of water
- let him bathe more often
- keep the skin well dried and moistened
If the tiny little red dots won't go away in few days, then, should consult with your pediatrician for further evaluation.
