What Can Cause Diarrhea In A 11 Years Old?

I have an 11 year old boy that for the last 3 days in the morning when he wakes up his stomach hurts and he feels that he needs to throw up or have diahrea. By about 9:00 am he is over it but until then he can't eat and going to school is out of the question because he may throw up.
