What Casues Pain Above Heels?

Hi, I noticed about 2 weeks ago that my achilles started to hurt a bit. Now the pain is unbearable right above my heel bone. I took x-rays and everything was fine. I can barely even walk better yet go up and down stairs, or bend my leg with weight on it. Also I don t remember injuring it directly. Is it just tendonitis?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that you may be having retrocalcaneal bursitis. In this condition there is pain and inflammation at back of heal. i will suggest you following.
1. Heal raise in shoe so that there is less pressure on achillis tendon.
2.Hot water fomentation.
3. Calf stretching exercises.
4. Carefully given steroid injections.
5.Some time surgery is only option. It can be done through key hole procedure.
I hope this answer will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
