Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i was in PE today and i stood up too fast and hit the side of my elbow part of my arm on a wait lifting stand. In like 5 minutes it started swelling and has been red and swollen since 8;00 this morning(its 4:04) now. It is hard to life things with that arm and it hurts really bad when I put pressure on it, flex, or straiten in out, I just have a feeling that its more than a bruise. What did I do to my arm?
It is very unlikely to fracture your bones with such a trivial injury, though exceptions are always there. Usually such trauma results in injury to soft tissue only. You need to do ice fomentation as much as possible, have an over the counter painkiller and wait for a day, in case your symptoms starts weaning off, that's well and good. If not then you need to get an X-ray of your arm done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rohan Shanker Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
