What Causes A Deformed Ear And Poor Coordination In A Child?

Hello, I’m concerned with the formation of my son’s ears. The top rounded part of the ear is “folded” down and what should be a thin curve is thick. It’s noticeably different than any child’s I’ve ever seen. Another concern is his developmental skills. I know all children develop differently…He just turned 7 months old and his coronation isn’t very good. He just started sitting up by himself and when he’s sitting up his hands will often fold under (the wrist) as if he doesn’t have correct coordination to catch himself from falling. Is this normal? Or could he have some kind of disability? Thank you!

HI....I understand your concern. These are my suggestions -

1. Regarding the ear - I usggest you upload the photograph and get back to us. We will be in a better position to guide you after seeing the images.

2. Regarding his development - I suggest you get him evaluated by his pediatrician directly as there are certain tests we do as pediatricians to check for the development of the baby and it includes clinical examination as well.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
