What Causes Blockage On The Esophagus While Eating?

I'm not sure if this a hiatal hernia symptom or not. On rare occasions when I eat it seems that the valve between my esophagus and stomach get stuck or something. The food and/or liquid gets stuck...I can feel it at about where my diaphram is. I'm not chocking because I can still breathe, but either the food passes through with a hard swallow or its coming back up. Afterwards, it fine...like it was a spasm or something. I am 51 year old male, 5'9", 230.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, I had gone through the history given here and I could say that it could be swallowing difficulty and it could be due to acid peptic disease or it could GERD (Gastroesophagus Reflux Disease), stress could be the cause of this, I would advise to change the diet, change the life style, it may not be anything else than the GERD
Advise:- Consult the Gastroenterologist for further advise and diagnosis or confirmation of condition
hope this information helps.
