What Causes Blood In Stool?

I've recently discovered that I poop quite an amount of blood along with my feces. The toilet water was literally red. This only started yesterday, and I feel physically normal. No pain or bruising of any sort. I am 18 years of age with no detrimental medical history, about 140 lbs, and 5'7-5'8. What could be the problem? Please help.
