What Causes Blood In Stool?

I am 16, about 5 foot 7. A few weeks ago, there was blood on the tiolet paper after I had a bowel movement. It was light red and it wasn't a lot. Then, it happened again about a week later. And now, today, i had another bowel movement and it happened again, except there was a litle blood on the stool as well. It doesn't hurt when I go, but when it started doing this a few weeks ago, my diet was bad and i had been constipated. I'm thinking my diet has something to do with it? my butt will hurt a little after. and today before I went, my butt had a sharp itchy pain. Could you please tell me this isn't anything serious? What could it be?
