What Causes Bruises On The Back?

Hi my 3 year old child seems to get reacurring little bruises on his back he is a very active 3 year old but I have never heard him cry or complain that he has Hurt his back, he doesn't have a childminder or anything so I know there is no abuse happening, do these little bruises mean anything serious?
