Due to changing weather he might have caught a virus. whether any cold with nasal watery discharge if present points towards pharyngitis. Lung clear means, we are looking at Upper respiratory tract infection. If there is fever with chills, you can take paracetamol for it. As he is elderly, antibiotic cover is necessary to avoid secondary complication from bacterial infection. You can get a prescription from your doctor for antibiotics> If fever is high, cold tepid sponging can be done.
