What Causes Cough, Fever And Chills?
My husband is74 has several health issues, such as high blood pressure, (on meds still 160) on cummiden, other things, he has developed a throat clearing habit, along with coughing when he talks, fever was 101, that comes and goes, also gets chilled and then get sweats. Had Dr. check him and his lungs were clear. What next?

Cough with fever and chills could possibly be viral in origin. Due to changing weather he might have caught a virus. whether any cold with nasal watery discharge if present points towards pharyngitis. Lung clear means, we are looking at Upper respiratory tract infection.
If there is fever with chills, you can take paracetamol for it.
As he is elderly, antibiotic cover is necessary to avoid secondary complication from bacterial infection. You can get a prescription from your doctor for antibiotics>
If fever is high, cold tepid sponging can be done.
Nutrition and good amount of fluid intake is very important.
for cough syrup can be taken as prescribed. Meet you doctor for prescription drugs. If fever persists even after three days, further investigations might be necessary to rule out other viral or parasitic causes.
