What Causes Cramps And Urgency Before Bowel Movement?

Hi - I am a 50 year old male. Over the past week I have noticed cramps and urgency before my daily bowel motion. One minute I can be fine, and the next minute I need to find a toilet - fast. The discomfort and urgency is similar to diarrhea but the stool appears normal.
