What Causes Cramps In The Rear Thigh During Stretches?

I've been doing 3 pilates/yoga combination classes for 5 weeks now and although I feel much more supple and fitter, I do get cramp in my left upper rear of thigh and into the glute area whenever I am doing any deep stretches of the right hand hip area. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks.
