What Causes Cramps In Thighs After Treatment Of Tibial Plateau Fracture?

I am 63 year old female. I had a plateau fx of left tibia in March 2014. Followed by 2 DVT in Rt leg in April 2014. FX treated with brace and DVT with hospitalization for heparin treatment, and then 6 mo of Coumadin therapy. Since that I have gradually developed leg cramps at night in calves of both legs. Now they both have dull, achy sensation during day. This has developed into dull, achy feeling in thighs and severe cramps in back of left thigh at night. I currently take fosamax, calcium, vit D, iron, vit C, Topamax for migraines, zolfot, Mirapex.

Hello and thank you for your question
I am not sure why this surgery and the DVTs triggered the muscle cramps. I am concerned from your description that it may be blockages in your blood vessels causing the problem and not just cramps. Please talk to your doctor about this possibility.
For cramps I suggest that you add a multivitamin/multimineral supplement and make sure that you drink 8 large glasses of water daily. Stretch you muscles regularly and avoid caffeine, tobacco and alcohol.
