What Causes Cramps Like Periods Suddenly In The Uterus And Knee?

i have menstrual like cramps in my left side of my uterus and in my left knee i had my period on the seventh of december and even then it was twenty one days late. what does this mean i went to my doctors and had ultra sounds but i have to wait until after the holidays to find out whats wrong
