What Causes Extreme Tiredness And Stomach Pain Before Getting Periods?
Every month right before my period I m super tired, my upper stomach hurts like gas pain on and of and I feel like I m coming down with the flu. I m 38 have three kids youngest is 9 and have only had these symptoms for maybe two/two and half years. I have regular periods which last up to 4 days. Why do I feel like this and what can I do to stop it from happening every month
Hello, Thanks for posting your query. I have gone through your query and I would like to offer you some comments: 1. The gas pain you experience is due to the bloating and gaseous distension due to the influence of progesterone and the release of prostaglandins prior to the onset of the period. 2. The malaise also is due to prostaglandin release. 3. As age advances and the general fitness dwindles, such changes are often observed. Weight changes, impending perimenopause, stress in day-to-day life etc., carry significance. 4. The symptoms can be kept at bay by increasing intake of fresh fruits and vegetables and adequate fluid, avoiding stress through lifestyle changes, yoga and meditation, avoiding fried foods, spicy foods and eating easily digestible small frequent meals. Maintenance of a healthy weight and regular exercise is advisable. Hope this helps.
