Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My son is 2 years old he has had intermittent diarrhea for 11 days which has been coupled with some vomiting. We are awaiting the results of a stool sample which won t be back til next week. The diarrhea has stopped a little and the poo is no longer watery. The thing is, his stools are now very dark green and have black lumpy bits and mucus in them. His mood is very good although he is quite pale. his temperature is fine and he has a bit of an appetite, for which i am giving him very plain biscuits and watery squash. No dairy products at all for 4 days. Basically, what do i do? Do we just wait for the results of the stool sample and keep with the plain diet or is there something else I can do? I have been cleaning and disinfecting as instructed and nothing seems to be getting better. Thanks for your help

What Causes Green Stool After Diarrhea?
Hi, No need to do anything active as he is on the recovery path already. It seems your kid is having viral diarrhoea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better. Unless the kid s having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting. Don t worry. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Sumanth Amperayani, Pediatrician, Pulmonology
