What Causes Green Watery Stool With Black Thread In Child?
I have a 2 year old daughter and for the past 2 days she has had very loose, watery bright green poo with small black thread that look like very small worms but they are not moving. I am concerned could this be a parasite/worm infection? She now has cold like symptoms,no fever.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your 2 year old daughter and understood your concerns. Very loose, watery, bright green stools with black thread like things is suggestive of severe enteritis. He black thread can be due to the elongated blood clot as there are no known back parasites that can infest humans. I would thus advise you the following. Give her Peditral solution as she is not vomiting - to maintain hydration and electrolyte balance. Consult her Pediatrician for clinical evaluation, investigations of stool and blood to have proper diagnosis so that an appropriate antibacterial management can be done. Also watch for the utensils, toys, the things she touches and puts in mouth, cleaning the hands with soap and water to avoid further infection is also a main part of management in such cases to avoid recurrence and to get proper results.
