What Causes Grinding Sound In My Lower Back?

I was told a few yrs back that I had a herniated disc in my lower back and in my neck. well, for about a year now I have had an audible and palpable grinding in my lower back. Used to be just with certain movements, but now, with almost all movement. No pain with the sound though. And back in November, Thanksgiving to be exact, started with heaklth issues...unable to void, had to cath self, bowel problems, perineu, numb. Had numerous tests done on bladder and nothing found. resloved after a few weeks. And also, my hands and arms go numb if I put above my head.
