Hi - I have a terrible rash that has appeared all over my legs and I m not sure what it s from (it s very blotchy, itchy, red bumps). I inadvertently fell into a bush/tree (on a friends property), but am pretty confident it was not poison oak. However, 48 hours after the incident the rash appeared, specifically where I cut myself on my leg. It s spreading quickly. I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy, red bumps all over my legs which is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become inflamed which is usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection leading to folliculitis. Major reason for its occurrence is friction and other reasons are heat , sweat and dermatitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep that area dry and wear loose clothes. You should apply a warm, moist washcloth or compress and apply soothing lotions. You should gently wash the infected skin twice a day with antibacterial soap. Take diet rich in fluids. Consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antifungal medicine.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
