What Causes Joint Pains With Normal Blood Tests

Hello. My son, 25 yrs old has joint pain. He has been to orthopaedic, arthritis, and general dr. had numerous blood tests, everything normal. He also gets right middle back pain when drinking beer. He is not an excessive drinker, a few on weekends. Joint pain worse when it is cold. He has a full time job as an elevator mechanic, a good kid. I am concerned about him. He has gotten discouraged about what could be wrong. He went to Johns Hopkins last year. No real diagnosis. Normal tests. I am thinking Gout, kidney stones, any ideas. He told me today, hes not drinking beer anymore, I witnessed his pain last night while watching superbowl. I went to store and got an icy hot pad to relieve pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Probable cause like arthritis has to be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
