What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth While On Lisinopril?
I have beenexperiencinga metal like taste in my mouth mostly on the tip of my tongue it drives me crazy please what could cause this? I am on linisipril for high blood pressure but this strange taste comes and goes. I do not believe it is the medication causing it what else could it be? thank you very much
Hello As you mentioned that you are taking LISINOPRIL for high blood pressure . You are feeling typical metallic taste at the tip of tongue . This is due to the effect of lisinopril and very common among those ,who take this drug. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitors and it causes peripheral vasodilatation and reduces total peripheral resistance hence due to dilatation on peripheral part ( as on the tip of tongue ) patient feel typical taste ( metallic taste ). This is very common , so you will adjust after some times till take the tablets as advised your doctor . Tips of tongue have taste buds so feeling is there otherwise on all parts ( peripheral parts of body ) there is also peripheral vasodilatation. Hope this will help you. Good luck.
