What Causes Migraines, Cramping, Mood Swings After Switching To Cerelle From Cerazette?
Hi, I am a healthy woman of 45. I was prescribed Cerazette to stop me getting hormonal migraines. It worked fine for me and I had no periods either. At my last repeat prescription a couple of months ago I was prescribed Cerelle instead. Since then I ve had two migraines (each lasts exactly 4 days, always has), dreadful cramping, moodswings, sore breasts and finally a period. I can only assume it is incompatible with me. Should I go back to Cerazette? I have to admit I m fed up taking the pill but is there any alternative to prevent the migraines? Would HRT be an option? I have poor circulation and wonder if I should have concerns about strokes in the future
Regarding your concern, I would explain that it seems that you do not tolerate well Cerelle, because of its adverse effects. For this reason, the best thing to do would be switching again to Cerazette, as you have had good tolerance of this drug. Regarding HRT, I would not recommend it, because of its adverse effects (increase risk of cancer), and also because its effects on migraine have not been proven. Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Wishing all the best, Dr. Aida
