Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having a stabbing/shock like pain in my left arm for about a week, Comes and goes. It is alarming when it happens. I am not a diabetic, on no medication etc. I am, however, 74 years old. Eat very healthy. I did have the shingles about 8 months ago and was wondering if it could be post shingle sympton possibly. doesn t seem like it though after all this time. I am worried, can you please give me some input. Thank you very much Also, pain is not on the same side that I had the shingles. Thanks again
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows: 1. Yes, it is definitely not shingles. Shingles pain would have been present since 8 months and at the same location. 2. This appears to be of neural cause due to compression of cervical vertebrae. The nerve compression between the vertebrae appears to be the main cause. 3. It appears to be early stage of cervical spondylosis. Get an lateral X-ray of cervical region for confirmation. You will require a cervical collar. Vit B12 therapy will help in reducing symptoms also.
Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
