What Causes Pain In The Foot After An Accident?

SI dropped a picture frame on the top of my foot about six weeks ago (shame on me for thinking I could dust a picture hanging on the wall!). It swelled and had a slight bruise. Initially, if i massaged the area, it didn t hurt. But if I put weight on it, it ached and has now progressed to pain. As the weeks have gone by, I have continued to wear loose shoes (if I wear Danskos, my foot swells for days). If I walk for over 10 minutes, my foot swells and the pain begins precisely in the spot where a hard lump (calcification???) has developed (but once off my feet, there is no pain). I have worn support hose, elevated my bed, and avoided all extra exercise, but would like to start running (which I feel is impossible right now!). Just wondering if this is worth a trip to the ortho dr. Thank you for your advice!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is due to contusion or thin hairline fracture. Consult an orthopedics and get evaluated. You might require an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
