What Causes Persistent Pain In The Ribs?

First of all it started out with severe stomach pain and rumbling. Then she began to also have severe rib pain radiating to the back on both sides. Then she started having lower to mid back pain. First we found out that she is insulin resistant and had a kidney stone well that took care of the lower mid back pain. She is now taking metformin, and potassium. But the problem has not been resolved she still has the severe stomach problems and the rib pain. The rib pain is constant but the intensity is what changes and it is very tender to touch. I am looking for suggestions. What you might think we should test for or consider or even look for.
