What Causes Pink Color Substance In Stool While On Medication For Crohn's?

I had a bowel movement approximately 20 minutes ago, and noticed a strange, salmon pink colored substance in my stool. I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease, and am taking Lialda and Prednisone, but neither of the drugs has worked. I am still having moderate to severe symptoms (including blood and mucus in diarrhea). Because I'm worried about my bowel health, I actually retrieved a bit of this substance from my stool. It is very thin, the consistency of a balloon almost, and there were pieces of it all throughout. What is this? Do I need to go to the hospital? Or can I wait until I can call my Dr. tomorrow?

Hello,

It may be blood altered color lead to pink appearance. Inflammatory Bowel Disease itself may cause blood in stool or altered blood in stool.

So, get stool examination is done under your doctor guidance. Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
