What Causes Rash From Thigh To The Ankle And Groin Area?

My wife has a rash that started from her left inner back thigh close to the buttocks and vaginal area running down to her ankle, she says she has some discomfort when it spreads because it causes itching, usually when laying down. I would like to know what could be the the condition that she could have. I dont know if you would need more info on it but if you do, please dont hesitate to ask as many question as you would like! Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rash from thigh to the ankle and groin area which could be due to fungal infection mainly Tinea, as it localizes on body folds.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to

- Clean the skin with soap and cold water and apply petroleum jelly.

- Take oral tablets of Terbinafine for 1 week.

- Apply moderately potent topical steroid twice daily at affected sites.

- Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching.

You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription.
