On Dec. 26, 2013 I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder. About 10 days ago I developed a rash on my upper legs (front only), which then spread to my thighs and now to my lower legs. They are tiny, flat, red spots, and the skin is very rough and dry. The skin on my buttocks is now very dry as well. A few of the red rash spots are isolated and larger. When the rash first appeared, it hurt in the warm shower. Now it doesn t, but it has become very itchy in the past couple of days. I am a 53-year-old female in otherwise good health, with a good diet. (For the most part avoiding processed & junk foods, sodas, caffeine, etc.) The reason for the cortisone injection was that I injured my shoulder carrying a piece of furniture, but didn t seek medical attention for a couple of months, because I kept thinking it s going to get better. I did start seeing a chiropractor, which helped a lot (my spine had been out of alignment), but the pain in my shoulder & trap muscle on that side was not getting any better. Some movements were excruciating. Then I developed a mild rash on my trap area, the shoulder, & down my arm. Very sensitive & painful. Diagnosed as Shingles. About a month or so later is when I got the cortisone injection. (Shingles rash was gone.)
