What Causes Rashes On The Inner Thighs?

I am a 30 year old female. For the 3rd time in the past year or two, I have a cluster, pimply rash that appears on my upper inner thigh. The first few days it just feels irritated and raw, then the white, pimply bumps appear. It lasts maybe two weeks and goes away, but often burns for most of the time. Should I be worried??

Hello,

You are suffering from rash on the inner thigh for the third time. Do take care of your hygiene. Keep the area clean and dry, avoid hot baths, avoid sharing personal items, wear soft loose fitting cotton clothes so that there is no friction rubbing. For relief, you can take antihistamines, one at bed time for 3-5 days. Do not touch, do not scratch.

If you have itching you can apply ointment hydrocortisone on the affected area. Commonly such symptoms occur dur to fungal infection, jock itch. You can apply ointment clotrimazole three times a day on the affected area.

Taking a course of oral anti fungal will also help. However, other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are contact dermatitis, heat rash or STD infection like genital herpes, secondary syphilis, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.

You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
