What Causes Seizure Like Attacks?

My brother in law has been getting seizure like attacks, not sure if they are actual seizures. He had a scan and no tumor was found. They said he needs to be referred to a neurologist for a better checkup. But theses 'attacks' on happen in the freezer section of the grocery store. What could it be?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

These attacks could be related to different possible causes:

- epilepsy seizures
- panic attacks
- thyroid dysfunction
- low fasting glucose (hypoglycemia), etc.
For this reason, I would recommend performing further tests:
- an EEG
- blood electrolytes
- complete blood count
- thyroid hormone levels
- fasting glucose
- glucose tolerance test.

You should discuss with his doctor on the above tests.
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
