What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pain?

I have a 13 year old son that has complained in the past that he has shortness of breath and his chest hurts, we have taken him to the dr. several times for this and nothing ever comes up. Last night he was in severe pain and said that when he gets up from a laying down position it pulls in the center of his chest and he gets pain radiating to the left pectoral area. This is a child that is healthy, active and has never had any major medical health problems. Can you please give me advise if this is something that I need to address to a specialist instead of our regular dr. that has seen him in the past and has done nothing about it.

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

The symptoms you quote might fit into wheezing, but the thing is it won’t subside by itself like that on its own. Keeping in mind the age and gender of the kid, I feel you should consider hyperventilation and other conversion reaction like symptoms.

I am considering this diagnosis as the symptoms you quote do not fit perfectly into any known clinical syndrome. I suggest you see your paediatrician or a clinical psychologist.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
