What Causes Sore Throat Along With Headaches And Dizziness?

I m a 63 year old male. I started having cold symptoms this past Tuesday, sore, scratchy throat, some congestions, difficulty sleeping. These conditions continue and I have been taking Mucinex with some relief. Slight headache, some dizziness, occasional ringing in ear. This morning, I woke up with a red, swollen area around my left eye. It doesn t hurt but I can feel it s there. I have had chickenpox and have a shingles in the past. I m thinking it may have re-occurred.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Please do not ignore it. Go to an ENT specialist to confirm whether it is a bacterial or fungal infection. It is possible that your red eye is due to throat infection. Consult an ENT specialist.
Send your throat swab for culture and start antibiotics. And use Wokadine gargle two times a day with equal amount of water.

Hope this will help you.
Thank you!
