What Causes Stiffness In Jaw?

My jaw clicks and I have had that clicking for several years but it never had any pain. Today I woke up with stiffness and could barlely open my mouth. It s getting better I am afraid it will happen again tomorrow. What is this and is there anything I can do to keep this from happening? Thanks

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of local inflammation in the temporo-mandibulary joint. For this reason, I recommend taking ibuprofen and avoiding chewing hard food. If the pain persists, consulting with a dentist will be necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
