What Causes Swelling And Stiffness On The Joints And Arms?
My mom is 68 yrs old woman and have swelling and stiffness in her joints of the arms and legs, her feet are swollen, she had been operated on the knees 3 yrs ago for change of knees and she have arthritis for the past 15 yrs. She is on medication like voveran- a pain killer and she is taking a paracetamol tablet when ever she feels feverish. her pain is still stagnant even after taking a painkiller. Her stiffness is more in the morning but resides as the day passes. she drinks a peg of black rum or whiskey every evening before going to sleep. Please advice.
As this sounds a case of muscle weakness due to lack of exercises post knee surgery. And at the age of 68, this is the most common problem which is faced.
Doing simple exercises like - Range of motion exercises for the knee, static quadriceps, static hamstring, straight leg raise, ankle toe movements, shoulder range of motion exercises, shoulder stability and flexibility exercise etc should help improve the overall health and reduce the symptoms.
Usually at age 68 exercise plays an important role in allowing the body to be more functional.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
