Hello Doctors, Every year around the summertime, I get a swollen rash on the left side of my cheek, towards where a sideburns would be. At the same time, my gland on that same side swells up and causes me a lot of pain. This swelling gets really itchy and starts to become an open soar and eventually, the swelling goes down and it scabs up and goes away.Niven had it so many times that I actually have a scar in that spot. Haven't met a doctor yet who hasn't just given me his ointment of choice and sent me on my way. I started taking Claritan the last couple of time it happened, and I think it made it go away a little quicker. Either way, I wish I could stop it or know why I get it. Any advice would be appreciated.-
The symptoms seem to be related to a heat rash. I recommend to avoid heat and sun. In case that you are in the sun I suggest to use a sun protector cream. Meanwhile, I suggest using a mild cortisone cream for local application such as Calamine lotion.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
