What Causes Twitching In Wrist And Small Finger?

Hello Doctor,
My wrist and pinky area has started to twitch for the last few weeks. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 6 years ago. With in the last 7 months I did not have any episodes of seizures, then 2 weeks ago I had 2 mild episodes out of the blue. could the twitching be from the seizures??

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that these twitching could be small partial seizures.

I would like to know the description of your previous seizures? How did they start? Did you have hand twitching during the seizure? Did you lose conscience?

Are you taking any anti-epileptic drugs? Which of them?

An electrolyte imbalance could also explain these troubles.

Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a physical check up and some tests:

- complete blood count
- blood electrolytes
- thyroid hormone levels
- kidney and liver function tests.

A new EEG may be needed.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Kind regards, Dr. Aida
