What Causes Unexplained Significant Bruising Near The Tailbone?

What could cause unexplained, significant bruising near the tailbone? I have a J-pouch (restorative proctocolectomy in 2004) and have recurrent episodes of pouchitis or cuffitis, but this bruising is baffling. There is no pain associated with it, and it extends down the crack.
