What Could Be The Cause For Fever, Cough And Burning Urination In A Child?

Hello. My daughter has what started out as a mild case of the flu but it has become worse with a high fever, deep cough, throwing up, achy. She just woke up to go to the bathroom and she started screaming cause it burned when peeing. She is 5. What could be the issue and is this normal?

Hi,

By what you say I feel that your child may be going through a viral illness.

I will explain to you how a viral illness behaves so that you can be more confident.

Fever of a few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about the duration if the kid is active.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
