What Could Be The Cause For Pain In The Heels In Elderly Patients?

unable to place weight on left heel, pain is about a 7 or 8, in order to walk left foot has to be on tip toe. If I have been sitting or laying down it is at it worst. After a few minutes of hobbling I can manage to limp around. Tried stretching toes back toward kneecap but doesn t seem to help. Female aged 70, normally pretty active.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to plantar fasciitis.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen.

I also suggest doing stretching exercises to relieve.

I also recommend using cold compresses in the area.

If the symptoms continue I suggest consulting an orthopedist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
