What Could Cause Dark Purple Bruise On Knee Back?

I have a dark purple bruise on the back of my knee that's been growing and getting darker. There's no significant pain, only a slight twinge when I bend my knee. I'm young, am not on medication including birth control pills, haven't been flying. Is this a cause for concern?

Hello
I have studied your case.

As per your symptoms there venous insufficiency [varicose vein] leading to dark purple bruise.

Dilated vein need investigation like venous Doppler and valve study.
There is another possibility of skin involvement due to infection.

Many of my patients find relief with laser treatment for varicose vein.

For these symptoms analgesic medication can be started.
Till time you can consult physiotherapist for help.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.

Vitamin E supplement with carnitine has good results.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries
