What Could Cause Numbness In The Toe ?

I have numbness in the toe next to my big toe What would cause that? It is not all the time but notice it when I am sitting down and my feet are up. If I put them down it tends to go away. Also, if running or walking the upper ball of my feet hurt just on 1 foot and it is the same foot with the numbness in the 2nd toe
